May 23, 2010 Windows 7 and drivers for HP scanner ScanJet 5300c Bought a new computer with Windows 7 and have an existing HP scanner ScanJet 5300c that doesn't seem to be supported by HP. Don't want to buy a new scanner. Windows 7 / Devices & drivers. HP Scanjet 7400c can't find a driver for Windows 7 x64, which worked. The scanner is detected in the system. But ABBYY Finereader just doesn't see - 6801718.
This update will upgrade the firmware in your HP ScanJet 7400C series scanner to version 0.8S. The update addresses the following issues: - Fix for blue tint seen when scanning with transparency adapter (XPA) - Reduction in acoustical noise when scanning with automatic document feeder (ADF) and, for Windows XP: - Resolves 'Error 7' seen on front panel display and grinding noise heard when scanner is connected to SCSI and scanning in Windows XP after the system returns from Stand By or Hibernate modes.
Checking the firmware version on HP ScanJet 7400C series scanners: - Start the HP PrecisionScan Pro scanning software. - Click on Help. - Click on About HP PrecisionScan Pro. - Look for the firmware version in the lower right corner of the dialog box (e.g. 0.8M). Choose the file you want to download to your system. With your mouse, click on the file. In the save as dialogue, you will be prompted to select the folder (subdirectory) where you want the file downloaded. Once the file is downloaded, click on the file, the software will decompress and then install update automatically. Click OK to install the update. After installing the update, the software update will prompt you to shut down the computer.
IMPORTANT: In order for the scanner's firmware to be updated, you must allow the computer to shut down. Once the computer is shut down, unplug the power cable from the scanner. Wait a moment, and then plug the power cable back into the scanner. Then, turn your computer back on.
